A fundraiser dinner and silent auction will be held for Smithfield resident Bob Page Monday, Dec. 5 at Summit Elementary. It will begin at 6:00 p.m.
The dinner will be pulled pork and dutch oven potatoes. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids or $35 per family. Items in the silent auction have been donated by community members and include crafts, children’s toys and gift certificates from local businesses.
Page was in an accident on Nov. 19 while plowing snow on the lane leading to his home. It is unknown what caused him to be ejected from his 4-wheeler, said Police Chief Johnny McCoy of the Smithfield Police Department.
Page was found in the road on 200 East by his 7-year-old grandson. He was initially taken to Logan Regional Hospital but, due to the severity of his injuries, was airlifted to McKay Dee hospital in Ogden, UT. Page was then taken to surgery to remove portions of his skull from extensive brain bleeding, bruising and swelling.
Page is still in the Intensive Care Unit at McKay Dee Hospital in an induced coma. He has also become ill with a respiratory infection that they are treating aggressively with medication, Page’s daughter Katie Donaldson said.
They will also be accepting donations for the auction the night of the dinner. “There are a lot of people that have offered to bring items for the silent auction, but we would love to have more,” said Katie Donaldson, Page’s daughter.
“People are so generous and we appreciate all the support and help in our time of need,” she said.
The Page family decided to name the benefit Bob the Builder after the nickname his grandchildren call him by, Donaldson said. “He is so handy. He builds cabinets for a living.”
All proceeds from the dinner and auction will go to the page family for the extensive medical expenses. Monitory donations are also being accepted at Lewiston State Bank under Robert Page and at Wells Fargo under Bob the Builder.
